Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

When will the Statute of Limitations end for me?

07232003 my boyfriend and I moved out of a duplex we rented, the landlord stated that we did damage to it, which we disagree with him. On 041504, the landlord sent us a correct itemized disosition of our security depoist, subracting our secuirty desposit and saying we owe him $7116.89, he also sent all the repairs he did and materials he used, and he stated if we dont response by 053004, he would place the account with a collection agency, which he did, he has never gotten a judgement against us, and we had responsed to his letter by 053004, but he still placed it with a collection agency in our city we live in, When will the Statue of Limitations be over? thanks

Four-year statute of limitations on breaches of contract. It seems like the limitations period should begin running on July 23, 2003 (the date you moved out). If so, the lawsuit is barred as of July 23, 2007.

Still, this will probably affect your credit for seven years from the time it was reported.
