Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
I work for caltrans in california a state worker. My licence was suspended for no registration, insurance & my licence wasent in my possesion. They told me the ticket was 1600 dollars. There is no possible way I can afford to pay that amount of money especially with all the furlough days they give us. Is there anything I can do to get them back because I need them to work & it require me to drive and I dont want to get fired. So is there any kind of state program or anything that can help me.

This is technically a criminal law question, even though it involves collection of debts. The only thing I can tell you is to set the matter for a hearing, and beg and plead with the judge for some sort of installment plan to repay the fine, while restoring your license immediately. Most judges who hear these matters are not entirely without a heart, and at a minimum, perhaps they can restore your license with a restriction allowing you to use it only for work purposes. Otherwise, you need to find a way to borrow the money to get your license restored, or this will continue to spiral out of control.

.I agree with Dale, and I would add make sure you get insurance immediately! Same goes for the registration. Go to court explain your situation and see if the judge will reduce the fine and let you make payments or do community service instead of the fine. Also take care of it now because the longer you what the more of a problem this will become.
Good luck.
