Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

If i wrote a check for $255 and it bounced and i never paid it and its been about 7yrs since i havent, will the irs track me down and charge me? i mean will i go to jail? the collection agency just told me that it will

Congrats....

They have just violated either the State or Federal Fair Debt statutes. Statutory damages of $1000+attorneys fees...

This is strict liability on their part. No intent needed, no negligence, no error, but they did make 1 mistake...they lied to you and they threatened you...BUT

They need to know that you know and are willing to tell your story to a judge....either State court or Federal...

You CAN do it yourself, but WHY they pay the attorney fee...

Many attorneys work on contingency fee basis....if you don't win, you don't pay...

Sounds easy, well its not.
