Re: 245 a1
If you asking about California Penal Code Section 245(a)(1) then the charge is Assault with a deadly weapon or by force likely to produce great bodily injury.
The California Penal Code Section 245(a)(1) specifically provides that: "Any person who commits an assault upon the person of another with a deadly weapon or instrument other then a firearm or by any means of force likely to produce great bodily injury shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for two, three, or four years, or in a county jail for not exceeding on year, or by a fine not exceeding ten thousand dollars ($10,000) or by both the fine and imprisonment."
If you or someone you knows has been charged with this crime it is important that you contact an attorney immediately. It is a very serious crime and it carries very serious penalties. Also if you or someone you know has been charged with this crime they should not speak to the police or any law enforcement agency without having an attorney present. It is very important they have an attorney advising them through the entire process.
If you do not have an attorney and you are looking for one, feel free to contact my office. I would advise you to act quickly. Good Luck
