Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

When I was 16, I began a relationship with my teacher that was 10 years older. Long-story-short. People found out, he went to jail for a year and is now on probation, with a criminal protective order against me. It's been about 18 months since he's been released and about 3 years since I've talked to him. I'm almost 20 now and would love to be able to talk to him and at least be friends with him and maybe actually have the opportunity to legally date and see if those feelings still exist. Is there anything I can do to have that protective order removed? Thank you again for your advice.

hmmm that is a touchy issue ... my first thought is, do you have reason to believe this person does want to hear from you? If not, I would say leave the guy alone. ;) That's my advice anyway. Others will chime in if opinions differ. Good luck!

I agree with Ms Hofmeister, but if you insist, you should first talk to a victim's advocate. There may be one in the District Attorney's office.
