Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
In 2008 I was convicted of a felony (grand theft) and was granted in probation for three years. My case expires in May of 2011. What does that mean exactly?.

In May 2011 you will no longer be on probation. You will still have a felony conviction on your record. After completing probation you could submit an application to the probation department requesting that the felony be reduced to a misdemeanor and dismissed as provided for in Penal Code section 1204.3. This will allow you to tell many employers that you have not been convicted for a felony. The conviction will have to be revealed to government licensing agencies and when applying for a government job.
