Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

2nd Continuance

How should one ask for a 2nd continuance if a previous one has already been granted to seek private legal representation and after a fall out with attorney needs to seek other. Do judges usually grant people that much extra time.

It is quite possible the judge will give you another continuance. You risk nothing by giving it your best shot and making the best pitch possible.

Push comes to shove, the judge will appoint a public defender for you to get the case going. You can (pretty much) always retain a private lawyer to take over the case later.

Feel free to contact me for a free consultation regarding your case.

Not sure it just depends on the judge do the best you can to interview attorneys prior and be prepared to tell the judge what efforts you have taken to interview new attorney since the fall out with your prior attorney.

At the very least allow the public defender to be appointed while you interview other attorneys is a possiblity, so the case does not get to old.
