Police reports are generally not available to the public.
Re: 911report
I respectfully disagree with my colleague. Police reports CAN be obtained if you have a "proper interest" in obtaining it. This means that you have a legitimate reason for needing it, like filing an insurance claim; suing someone; filing for victim of crime benefits, spousal support issues; child custody issues; or many other reasons.
The absence of a police report number is not fatal. You will need the exact date, the address the police went to and your own name and identifying info. They should be able to find it, but are you sure they DID do a report? Without knowing the reason they came, I can't tell you for sure they'd write one up.
Many police departments do charge for a copy of a report, but it should not be more than $20. Often they are free. Lastly, I have no idea what the backlog is in Sunnyvale, but call the "records room" for the Sunnyvale PD and ask them the expected time frame. It will probably be quicker than they tell you. Best bet is to go down there in person and inquire. Good luck
