Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Hello. I am a 39 year old male with an otherwise spotless record. The last moving violation I got was in 1998 (speeding ticket). The only blemish on my life record was a misdemeanor in July 2001 (contributing to the delinquency of a minor...code 235(a) if memory serves me correctly.

My question is this---I have heard that I do NOT need to list this when asked about it on job applications, since it's been over 10 years. But if a company runs a background check on me, will they discover this misdemeanor? Obviously if they DO, then I would rather be honest with them from the get go.

Do you know if this record will turn up on background checks?

Thanks,

James

They'll find it and you have disclose it unless you have had it dismissed pursuant to Penal Code section 1203.4, commonly called "expungement."
