Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
18 year old with minor
My 18 y.o. son left with a 14 y.o girl, runaway, they have crossed state line into Oregon, is he in serious trouble? She went willingly. We must assume they've had sex.

Re: 18 year old with minor
He would be guilty of unlawful sex with a minor. The fact that she is only 14 years old makes the situation worse, in California. The fact that he is in Oregon and presumably having sex would mean that Oregon law would also apply. Presumably it is unlawful for him to have sex with her in Oregon. The law may be harsher in Oregon. He could be subject to a prison sentence for statutory rape. A 14 year old girl cannot, in the eyes of the law, consent to having sex.
In California and I presume most states there is an exception to this law if the female is his wife.
