2011. my son has been contacted by his high schools local police liason and by his vice principle
that his name came up in this incident . He was told that the rival high school doesn't want to press
charges but wants restitution of $1000.00 today some one claiming to be an asst proinciple at
the rival high school said that the replacing the plaque would be a $1000.00 my son admits
to breaking it with his friends but did not know the origin or value. I as the parent have not been
notified at all. my questions are; what could he be prosecuted for? how can you make a minor
pay restitution with out involving a parent or guardian.
will
1 Answer from Attorneys
He can be arrested for felony vandalism and will have to go through the Juvenile Justice System. Obviously your son should make no statements or admissions of guilt without consulting an attorney.
