I have done a Certificate of Rehab. And, it was successful. Client is now eligible for alot of things not available before such as jon opportunities. Now, it is pending for a pardon. Cert of Rehabs are not easy to do. If you have an attorney already, discuss this with him/her. If not, email me at [email protected] with details.

It is my understanding that the current and the prior governor granted hardly any pardons at all, among the thousands of applications submitted. Your chances are not good, from what I hear, but then I have to admit I have never done one. Ask any attorney who specializes in this area, how many pardons have been granted in the past 10 years. Maybe you would wish to save your money when you hear the answer.

Mr. Dinday is correct; in today's political climate, the chances of getting a governor's pardon are slim to none.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has only granted three pardons in his six years in office, all to people who had been convicted of drug offenses 30 years ago and led exemplary lives ever since. His predecessor, Gray Davis, didn't pardon a single person during the five years he served as governor.

The waiting period before you can apply for a certificate of rehabilitation depends on the crime for which you were committed.

Even though your chances of getting a pardon are slim to none as described above, you should pursue a Certificate of Rehabilitation. It should take a couple of months to get it. No attorney may charge a fee for helping a client obtain a COR, and there is no filing fee. Contact the public defender in the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center in downtown LA about doing it for you. Their number is (213) 9742811. Good luck. Steve Mandell
