Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I'm 20 years old. I was arrested for shoplifting with my friend at kohl's. I had on two pairs of underwear worth 17 dollars. it was my first offense. ive never been arrested or taken to jail before. before the officer arrested us he never told us our Miranda rights. he asked us if we intended on buying the things we stole. we said no because we stole them. but we didnt make a plan to go steal at the store. i didn't have any cash i just had my atm card and the officer said that doesn't matter. i have money in my account. so the officer said what we did was a felony...but apparently we are being charged with two felonies. commercial burglary and burglary. So if you can please give me some advice. I'm only 20 yrs old making a careless and immature mistake. im going back to school so i can continue my life in the dental field. i will ever be able to get into that with two felonies on my record.

You are facing two very charges which can have life-altering consequences. Unfortunately, your age and the amount that was stolen may not mean a lot in this circumstance.
I would advise you to quickly consult an experienced attorney in your area so that you can attempt to minimize the damage
