Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
How can you get access to a criminal court transcripts in California. There is no information online regarding how much they cost. I am wondering is the cost as high as $4,000. I have seen as low as a cost of $80.00 as well. I am trying to obtain transcripts for THE PEOPLE V. CONRAD MURRAY. I cannot seem to get a straight answer anywhere. Thanks.

The cost varies depending upon the number and length of the proceedings. The transcript of a single, short hearing can be very inexpensive. The transcript of a lengthy trial can cost tens of thousands of dollars, and even more if you also want the transcripts of pre-trial and post-trial hearings.
If you want the reporter's transcript, you have to contact the court reporter for that hearing and find out what he/she charges for that transcript. If you want copies of court filed documents, you go to the clerk, and the cost is 50 cents per page.
