Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I was accused of shoplifting at target and this is my first offense. I'm 18 years old still in highschool and wondering what's going to happen to me?

High school or not, you are 18 and will be prosecuted in adult court.
You need a good criminal defense attorney. I'd strongly suggest you find someone who focuses on criminal law and who routinely practices in the court where this case will be heard.
Your goal is to avoid a theft conviction if possible. It can have devastating long term consequences.
I also advise that, no matter how tempting a deal may sound, a conviction to a crime of theft will impact your future. As a Former Deputy District Attorney, I have seen the impact of a conviction, on a young person like yourself. Most criminal defense attorneys offer FREE consultations, so speak to an expert AT ONCE. I wish you well. David Wallin
