Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Alright so one night i went out with my friends and i had brought my makeup with me. My makeup consists of a lot of expensive little knick knack and i keep a journal of all my makeup so that i know if anyone decides to steel any of it i know whats missing. So my makeup bag was stolen that night out of my friends car and i know who did it. The items that were stolen including the bag its self add up too $848.33. Thats a lot of money that I had to replace. The only problem is that it happened back in september but i only got cold hard proof she had stolen yesterday. Is there anything I can do or what should I do? I want to get my makeup or cash back in a civilized manner.

You can file a police report, but after such a delay, nothing may come of this unless it truly is a slam-dunk.

You can also sue in small claims court if you want for the value of the stolen items. Same issue - you have to be able to prove it.
