"Arrest Rights"

When a peace officer informs you that "you are under arrest", how long before the law requires he or she infom your of the reason? How many hours can a peace officer detain a citizen by way of technical arrest before the peace officer has a legal requirement to inform the citizen the exact reason the citizen has been arrested for?
