Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

arrest warrant

If an officer finds you with a very small amount of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) for whatever reason doesnt cite you or right a report,no arrest but says hell hang on to it to see what im going to do. This happens to be an officer whos familiar with myself and other family members. Anyway he acts like hes going to cut me a break then 20 to 30 days go by and out of the blue he pops up and wants me to figure out a time and day this week that i will meet him at the police dept to turn myself in or (tell on myself basically. Is this legal without a warrant . and can a warrant be issued?

Re: arrest warrant

Yes, it's legal. You should consult with a lawyer before you talk to the police, and should probably retain one to represent you. Don't delay, since the police will come get you if you don't respondin a reasonable time.
