Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I know someone who just got arrested, was pulled over for going to fast but didnt get a speeding ticket, he is only 20 and they asked him if he had anything like weapons in the car, he said he had a little bat in the trunk, so they searched his car found that and some brass knuckels as well. He was arrested and released a few hours later. I guess its a felony for each one. He has never been in trouble with the law. Court date is in a few weeks. He has been talking to a Army recruiter for the last few months and now sounds like this will mess up his chance on going in. Do you think it could be dropped to a misdemeanor ? What can he do or should he do? And should he get a Lawyer ? Thank you for your help.

Yes, he should get a lawyer. After learning more about the circumstances, the lawyer will be able to give your friend better advice than we can.
