Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I was arrested in a store for shop lifting this was my first time offense I have never ever done anything like this before and regret what I have done. I was given a ticket and a court date and was sent on my way. What do I do now? I made a bad choice and took some markers and pens to make yard sale signs and make things to sell. I'm facing hard times like everyone and like I said I made a bad choice. The pens and markers I took total $42.00. Please advise I do not want to do jail time I have to daughters that need their mother. I also do not what this to go on my record. I'm layed off right now from a school district and I would not what a bad choice on my part to stand in the way of me being called back by my employer.

You should do whatever you can to not plead to the charge of theft. Get a good attorney who may be able to get the charge reduced or better. We have handled 100's of these type of cases and are able, in many cases , to get charges reduced to a non-theft related charge, and , in some instances, dismissed. Call a lawyer in or near your area right away and make an appointment to see them. I wish you well...David Wallin
I agree with Mr. Wallin. The best advice that can be given on this site is to find an experienced attorney to advise you and represent you in front of a judge. The attorney will review the charges and facts to determine the best course of action to take. I represent clients in the Southern California area and would be happy to help you if you'd like.
