Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Arrested for warrant
Two years ago a friend of mine was convicted of HS 11377(a) & PC 12020(a)(4). He was sentenced to a 30 day work detail program and 3 years probation.
Last year he was stopped for no current registration/insurance and HS 11377(a). He was released an hour later and heard nothing more about it until 2 days ago when he was arrested on a warrant was issued for probation violation. However, while searching his car the police found drugs once again. This time he went directly to jail for two days until $5,000 bail was posted. He now has to appear in court in 4 days, and is terrified that he will have to go back to jail.
Will he?????

Re: Arrested for warrant
Your Friend needs to put on a hellacious showing of repentance without delay. If I were him I would bring signed proof of at least 3 Narcotics Anonymous meetings each and every day from now till the case is heard (expect to be put over, July 5 tends to be a crowded court calendar). And even then it will be a longshot.

Your friend is in trouble, but nothing that can't be handled with the right attorney. You need to hire one ASAP.
Re: Arrested for warrant
Probably. He needs to get a lawyer right away if he doesn't already have one.
