Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

hi i was asked to go down to the police station for questioning on a criminal case by my former employer. i went and answered the detective questions and then was told i would be booked but not arrested and that there would be no bail to pay. he said this was still under investigation. my uncle works for the police department in another city and he was informed of the situation.i made it clear to the detective i didnt want my family to find out and he agreed. i believe that was all recorded. now ,my whole family knows and this is still an on going investigation, what can i do? did the detective have the right to tell my family member after i had asked not to and disclaime more information to him than to me?

You should have asked for legal advice before you spoke with the detective, not after. As they say on TV, anything you said can and will be used against you in a court of law.

You need a lawyer ASAP. If you can't afford one, contact your local public defender's office. Do this right away. And you should probably stop talking to the police in the meantime; you're much more likely to make things worse for yourself than better.
