Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Assault, Mutual Combat, or Assault with a Deadly Weapon?

After Completing Basic Training in the United States Marine Corps, we are presented with a ''tan Belt'' on Martial Arts. We are also told that this is equivalent of a Black belt in any other Martial art. I have heard a Rumor that anyone involved in a fight, whether it is Mutual Combat or not, that has earned Black Belt status, will be charged with Assault with a Deadly weapon, provided that said person exceeded the force necessary to stop them. Is this true, or would this be a regular Assault charge or deemed Mutual Combat if that were the situation?

Re: Assault, Mutual Combat, or Assault with a Deadly Weapon?

It is my understanding that any fight is a crime, unless the fight is sanction by law. A boxing match would be such an instance. Mutual combat merely states that both parties participated in the fight.
