Potentially, term of imprisonment can be high, 5 years and up, but it can also be misdemeanor with probationary sentence with or without time in county jail for 1 year or less. Important factors include whether an instrument likely to inflict great bodily injury was involved or whether actual great bodily injury took place. Presence of a firearm can increase the penalty significantly.
