Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Attorney

I have been charged with domestic violence. Although, I haven't been arrested as yet, I immediately got myself an attorney. My attorney spoke to the DA, in the hope that the DA would throw the case out. The DA did not throw the case out because my attorney says my x-girlfriend had a witness, which I had already mentioned to my attorney.

12 days later my attorney informs me that unfortunately, my case had only just been filed on this holiday weekend (Martin Luther King) and that I will probably not make the calender, because of the short week and the time it takes to process my case....typical!

My attorney mentioned that the bail would be x amount, but my attorney recommended a bailsbondsman that was fairly cheap. My attorney also mentioned earlier at my consultation that I would need a detective.

Although, I have already paid her in full her fixed rate ahead of time, I am beginning to feel that my case is a lost one, and that I am being sold down the river.

What do you think?

Re: Attorney

Nothing you have written suggests that anything has gone wrong, let alone that your lawyer is at fault. The case was filed by the D.A., so your lawyer is not to blame for its timing. He let you know upfront that you will need an investigator, and he referred you to an affordable bail bondsman. The only thing that seems to have gone wrong for you is the D.A.'s unwillingness to drop the case, but D.A.'s seldom drop cases and your lawyer only said he "hoped" to get this one dropped. I don't see any reason to lose confidence in the lawyer.
