Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I know someone that wants to take back a plea bargain, from the time he was arrested, until two days before his trial, his court appointed lawyer led him to believe he was going to trial on a manslaughter charge, well, two days before trial she came to him with a plea bargain stating"we can't go to trial or you will lose, sign this paper accepting a 15-life sentence,on a second degree murder,if not you will receive a 50-life sentence"I mean she didn't do any investigating and my son had like 10 minutes to sign. Is this a legitimate reason to ask to drop the plea bargain and ask for another lawyer?

Something does not add up here. Your son would know exactly what charges were filed. He was informed of those charges and was arraigned on that particular charge.. Most of the time pleas don't go from manslaughter to 2nd...

Withdrawing a plea is possible with a new attorney. Your son took the plea and was asked by the judge if he understood, he admits to the facts of the case. If your son actually killed someone maybe the 15-life is a good deal. If prosecutor takes it to trial t could e worse
