Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Background Check

I did a search on Google and found some sponsored sites for background checks. This is for personal reasons, not employment. Does anyone have any advice on going about a background check? Who to use, what to expect, what to pay? Is the person being checked on informed of the background check? I think they should be, as I would want to be informed. But I don't know.

Re: Background Check

Thank you for your posting.

The answer to your question would depend upon what records are being checked as part of a "background check". Certain records, such as the filing of bankruptcy, or other court records, are a public record, equally available to everyone. Other records, such as a criminal background check, certain financial and phone records, social security information, or your driving record, are limited under California and Federal law to law enforcement, or to those giving consent, or as ordered by a court.

I hope that this information helps, but if you want more information, have further questions, or feel that you need legal representation, please feel free to email me directly at [email protected]. It's my pleasure to assist you in any way that I can.
