Bail Amount
My 18 year old son received 20,000 bail for a misdemeanor vandalism charge, his first offense. Why so high?

Re: Bail Amount
Seems like the amount of damage was high or there were other aggravating circumstances. It is impossible to tell without knowing more facts.
If the bail is too high, your son will have an opportunity to argue for a lesser amount or no bail release (own recognizance) at his arraignment or bail review hearing. At any event, he needs a lawyer.
Feel free to contact my office for additional non-binding consultation.
