Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Bail bonds

I bailed my boyfriend out of jail and now we have seperated. I do not want to have the legal responsibility of the bail bond should he not comply with the terms of the contract. Are there any legal measure I can take to remove my name from the contract? We have not had an amicable split. The contract is only a month old

Re: Bail bonds

Hello,

Go immediately to the bondsman who you used to post

his bail. Tell him you no longer are willing to

stand for collateral on the bond. He will go out

pick up your ex and bring him to court which you will

probably need to attend.

If you posted direct cash bail, forget having him

picked up to go to court, just check with the

court clerk's office to get his next court date,

be there, tell the bailiff ahead of time to notify

the judge that the person who posted his bail

wants to withdraw it. The Judge will ask you from

the bench if that is so, and if you say "yes",

then they put the charm bracelets on him and he

goes out the back door. But.............

If you are doing this because you actually believe

he is a flight risk, fine and dandy. But if you

are doing this out of revenge, look into your own

heart first, because revenge using another persons

freedom is about as down and dirty as it gets.
