Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Getting bailed

Since there is a bail amount, does it mean that the person can be bailed out even if he was sentenced already from another case?

Re: Getting bailed

Yes and no. On any case for which a bail amount has been set, you can pay the bail and the defendant/inmate would be released ON THAT CASE. However, if that person is simultaneously serving a sentence on another case, it would be like throwing money away by paying the bail, since the defendant would remain in custody on the case for which (s)he was serving a sentence. So until (s)he has served out the sentence (include good/work time custody credits, so estimate about 2/3 the actual pronounced jail sentence), don't bother paying bail on the other pending case(s).
