Right to keep and bare arms

I am currently in the process of expunging a misdameanor battery charge from my record; because the battery occured on a school campuss I am currently unable to purchase a gun. My question for you is, if my record is expunged at a city level, and I have already had an inquirey on it by the dept. of justice because of my attempt to purchase a gun, will I be able to purchase one after they are destroyed?
