Bench warrant for petty theft in stanislaus county
I just got a background check back from a potential employer and it showed I have a bench warrant in Stanislaus County for petty theft. I have had my name run a few times now in Stanislaus County and came up clean, so I dont understand why it says on the background check it is still ''pending''. I also dont understand why I was charged with petty theft-misdemeanor. I stole less than $20.00 worth of merchandise and was told I would be charged with shoplifting.
I am pretty positive I dont have to worry about getting arrested, even though I am in a different county and state, because I've come up clear multiple times, but I still dont understand why it says pending and I got the charge that I did considering the amount I stole and what I was told at the time I was issued a notice to appear in court? Also, I need to know how long this will remain on a background check?

Re: Bench warrant for petty theft in stanislaus county
Shopping is a petty theft. Unless there are priors that would allow it to be charged as a felony. If you did not take care of this matter before moving then there is no doubt a warrant for your arrest. You should retain an attorney to check into this and if there is a warrant for your arrest then get the matter placed on calendar and take care of it.
