Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Bench Warrant

I recently was arrested for a bench warrant. It was a failure to appear on driving on a suspended license. The cops went to my house and talked to my mom and sister without badges and asked them where I was. They said that I was a witness to a accident so my mother told them I was at work. They came to my work and arrested me for this. So I got fired from work. I need to know if they did anything wrong. I never recieved anything in the mail. And after spending 2 days in jail the juge dropped the case. Im not a criminal and now I feel like one. They screwed me!

Re: Bench Warrant

Sounds like you need to let go and put this behind you. If the cops acted on a valid warrant, there is nothing you can do. In most cases, like yours, they can lie and cheat.

However, if the warrant was dodgy and the police had something to do with it, you might have remedies.

Re: Bench Warrant

Your jail time was unfortunate but your arrest on a bench warrant due to failure to appear was not out of line.

Good luck
