Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Name and birthdate wrong on ticket

I recently recieved a ticket for possession of a small amount of marijuana (in Berkley, CA). The ticket had all the correct information on it, but when I recieved my summons, the first name and my birthdate were listed incorrectly. Unfortunately the driver's license number is correct. Is there any way that I can avoid traveling 10 hours for a less than $100 ticket? If they have the wrong name, am I still responsible for the ticket, or can I claim ignorance?

Re: Name and birthdate wrong on ticket

In order to avoid travel, a person may call the court and request a telphonic or fax arraignment, if they intend to plead guilty. However, if not pleading guilty, an appearance would be required.

With regard to incorrect information in the ticket. More than likely, the court has the correct name and birthdate. A person may fight by alleging insufficient service of process but all that will do is result in an amended summons which will ultimately be served properly eventually.
