Bounced Check Penalties, aftering already paying 1/3 back via verbal agreement

I had an event for my parents at a restaurant with no banquet contract. I paid $3065 for the event, the check bounced, due to the account being closed; which i was never notified by my bank. I have paid the restaurant $1000 via a Cashier's Check, and I stated that I will have it paid by the begining of next week. While one owner had stated it was okay and that they would wait, the other owner has since notified me via text message that i have until 6pm today to pay the balance owed or they will take it to the next level. what are the potential ramifications?

Writing bad checks on closed accounts is a crime and you could go to jail for it. Maybe if you hurry up and pay you will get very lucky.
