Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
i used by boyfreinds name to get cable without his permission. we lived together at the time. now he owes $600 and now we arent together anymore he is blackmailing me. he's says i have to do what he says or he will press charges. what can i do? will i go to jail?

I would need to know more about what the facts before I could say whether you committed a crime. Whether you did or not, though, it seems likely that your ex is committing (or at least attempting) a crime by blackmailing you. Without more information I can't be sure of this, but what laypeople call blackmail usually qualifies as extortion or attempted extortion.
Be careful not to make similar threats against your ex, since you might also commit extortion if you did.
