Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
My boyfriend was accused with assult and battery as a misdemenor. He hit my leg with a open hand on accident, when he meant to hit the bed and I knew this and called the police any way. Is there a way to have this dropped. They Police said it's in the hands of the city, not mine, but if I say I knew it was an accident? I don't care if I get in trouble, I just don't want to make it worse for my boyfriend or he's still in trouble and now I am.
Any info would be much appricated!!

You cannot get the charges dropped. The District Attorney will decide whether to file criminal charges against your boyfriend.
At this point, making further statements to the authorities will probably just make things worse. If you boyfriend is charged with a crime, talk to his attorney. If he can't afford to hire a lawyer, the government is required to pay for one and the judge will appoint the public defender.
