My boyfriend was arrested lastnight on a fellony warrant out of california for a probation violation. but he was arrested in the state of arizona, im wondering what kind of time he is looking at? And will california for sure come and pick him up?

The answers to both questions depend upon what your boyfriend's original crime was and what he did that violated his probation. Since his crime was a felony and since he's just in the next state, the odds are good that California will extradite him.
He could be sent to prison to serve the remaining portion of his sentence. And if his violation constitutes a separate crime in its own right (not all violations do), he could be convicted of that crime too and sentenced to additional time behind bars.
