Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

my boyfriend was paroled in sept. 08 from drug convictions but was abscounding within 3 months of being paroled. He still has not seen his agent since dec 08 but the other day his "agent" called and told me that if I seen him or talked to him to let him know that if he goes to the office and signs a few papers he will be off parole.... he has nott seen or talked to his agent since dec 08 but now all the sudden they want to release him early... does this sound like a legit kind of thing or is something just not right like my first thought to it was?
