Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

My boyfriend was seen getting out of the passanger seat of a car. After the driver pulled away, she was pulled over and the car was found to be stolen. They went into the house that he walked into after he got out of the car and arrested him for possession of stolen property. The girl driving told the police officers that he didnt know the car was stolen and he had nothing to do with it. All of this is in the police report. He has a prior GTA from a few years ago. He is worried about fighting the case because of his prior. Can he be found guilty with no evidence that he knew the car was stolen?

Theoretically, there would have to be some evidence in order to convict. As a practical matter the odds of a conviction would depend on the quality of the legal representation he gets. Very possibly BF is not being truthful with you regarding his involvement.
