Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Before my boyfriend got out of prison we were writing, talking, and I even visited. We wrote before he got out and they told him that when he gets out he can't have any contact with me at all cause i am a co defendant. How can I be a co defendant if I wasn't charged with anything? I was there, but I wasn't part of it. So, is there anyway we can get around this? Will we ever be able to see each other? This happened when he was 19 and I was 17, now he is gonna be 24 and i'm gonna be 22.

It's not clear to me whether you are referring to terms of his parole, or he is just telling you this as an excuse not to see you. I would have to actually see his parole and sentencing terms. Any answer that I gave you otherwise would just be a guess or random speculation. If he won't let you see his parole terms, you may not have much say in the matter.
