Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

my boyfriend Has 4 separate case's,last case was from a search warrant served to the location he was currently not staying at that is where they allegedly found a gun,ammunition and another possession of meth charge,each chArge also carrying an enhancement giving him 6 felony charges For that one case. The other cases are felony charges as well. Case #1 is a Possesion of a controlled subt. And a misdemeanors destroying evidence. Case 2 is a possession w/intent to sell, a transport and a possession of a needle and his codefendant has already pled guilty. His 3rd case is a possession charge and an enhancement charge for committing a crime while out on bail. i hired a lawyer in november.My boyfriend and I hired a criminal lawyer in november. Jan 3,the lawyer told him the DA offered him 2 years but wouldnt let him take it. Jan 25,the offer is now 6 years and she now states that the 2years wasnt really an offer,the DA that day wasnt authorized to make that offer. The ony time she talks to the DA and my boyfriend is at hearings,she has yet to go talk to him in jail and Ive asked her more then once. Am I expecting too much of her or do I need to find a new lawyer?

You need to speak, without charge, to other criminal law attorneys to find out the answer, but first ask the attorney you hired to explain how she has behaved. Quiz her on what the first plea bargain offer was.

You did not ask, but with so many charges against him, and his already qualifying for three strikes if the DA wants to go that route, you can expect not to see him outside of jail for many years.

George, I may be missing something but I don't see any evidence that this is a three strikes case.

Being retained in November and still not seeing your boyfriend in jail raises questions. You need to talk to her and get some answers. If you don't get satisfactory answers you should think about getting a new attorney.
