Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Hi my boyfriend was tazed and charged with a felony for resisting arrest. But then the cops came and said they needed the names of everyone that seen them taze him. Because he didnt resist until they pulled the tazer on him then he got scared. Now they upped his charge to a felony. Pls advise..Sincerely Melissa V
