Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Burglary in own home
My sister was arrested and charged with burglary after stealing property worth under $200.00 from her own bedroom. Property belonged to another family member who intentionally placed it in her bedroom. Is this Burglary and if not what are the charges?

Re: Burglary in own home
Not a burglary if indeed she was in her own bedroom. Possibly burglary if we are talking about room/house which USED to be her bedroom but where she no longer resides.
Residential burglary is a serious charge. Conviction would be a strike even if no jail or prison time is involved.
Hope this helps,
