Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
business loss
a home based business owner wants
to make a insurance claim because
she misplaced a necklace and needs
to file a police report. She is blaming
me and for her loss. I did have the
necklace at one point and returned it
to her. She has since requested
information on myself, parents and
siblings (claiming the insurance
company is asking for it). 1. would
and insurance company ask for this
much information? 2. should I give
her the information? 3. what
happens next? 4. what information
do I need to show I need indeed
return the necklace?

Re: business loss
I advise against submitting any information which can and will be interpreted against you as an admission of guilt. This sounds like a ruse to get you implicated or fraud on insurance company I would stay away from. You have no duty to cooperate with anything, especially if you are innocent.
On the other hand, if you are indeed guilty of theft and there is evidence of your guilt, it might be advisable to negotiate with the woman in order to avoid possible police investigation and charges. You should discuss this in detail with an attorney.
