Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Buying alcohol for minors

I recently filled out a test questionnaire, that is normally used for the polygraph, when applying for a volunteer position with a police department. One of the questions asked was ''Have you ever purchased alcohol for a minor'' and since I was supposed to be honest, I was. I had purchased a bottle of vodka for my roommate about a month before she turned 21, which puts her underage. My background investigating officer thinks this will cause a problem with my application, but I'm wondering if there's any way I can be arrested for this since it was a signed admission? Thanks for your help.

Re: Buying alcohol for minors

Anything is possible. However, it is unlikely that an arrest would result from this statement. Purchase would be a misdemeanor, the statute of limitations is one year from the date of the time you purchased the liquor and gave it to her. I would expect that if the police took any action that it would be a cite and release. That is you would be given a ticket which would result in your signing a promise to appear in court.
