Formal probation is supervised. That is, you meet with a probation officer on a regular basis.

Informal probation is typically unsupervised so you don't have to meet with a probation officer at all or at least not on a regular basis.

You typically cannot leave the state. Are you moving to the other state? Visiting the other state? What are the terms of your probation?

It may be possible to transfer your probation out of state if needed (Interstate Compact). Let me know if I can help you further with this.
