Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I'm in California. 3- to 5- foot long samurai sword. It's okay to buy samurai sword? It's okay to carry samurai sword? What the foot long of straight sword? It's okay to carry straight sword? Samurai sword and straight sword are legal or illegal? I will get arrested by carrying sword? Please help?

They are not illegal to possess. What you cannot possess is listed at Penal Code section 12020. You can't possess a shobi-zue or shuriken, which I assume you're not referring to. You can't run around town with the samurai sword, and I would suggest you not take it to public places like the courthouse or school, but they are fine if kept in the home.
