In California is obstruction of justice a felony? Is lying to the police obstruction of justice?

Unfortunately it can be.
The trick is that almost all cases the police recommend for filing are rejected.
The DA knows (the police seem not to) that juries will not convict a person for lying to the police. Every juror thinks of a time they lied to a cop, and let the person go. You should get a lawyer IF you have been charged with same. If a cop threatened you with it, laugh it off.But if you have a court date, call a lawyer.
