Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

case not filed

i was arrested on 2-20-01 charged with penal codes 487 and 496; released on or.on my court date 3-22-01 my case was not found. i went to the da's office they said that they din't have anything on file.what is going to happen next? how does this affects my case? thanks for your answers.

The sheriff or police officer that arrested you made a report. Several things could have or maybe are still happening. The sheriff or officer's supervisor rejected the report. And the reporting officer may or may not have redone it. The D. A.s office may have sent the report back to the sheriff or police for additional information necessary to file a charge.

In either instance the report may be at or making its way to the D. A's office, or it may have been dropped. Normally by now the matter would have been completed and charges filed. The court would then send you a letter when to report.

However, it is starting to look like the matter may be dropped. It's a little early to come to that conclusion. But it's looking more like it every day.
